Guen deserves better than Scotland

Fri, February 17th 2006

In an survey for French football website MaxiFOOT , three quarters of the voters thought that Paul Le Guen should not join Rangers at the end of the season.

Voters commented that moving to the Scottish Premier League (“a second rate league”) would be a backward step for a manager many see as being capable of taking on a top European club.

Yes it may not be a big league to manage or play in but rangers and celtic are as big a team than you would get in france or even europe. Rangers are very well known throughout europe and now the other spl clubs are starting to challege the old firm for example hearts and hibernian this season. Also For a manager like paul le guen joining rangers it just shows how big a club we are and the players we have been linked to are top quality even though they are french and mostly from ligue 1.Altough rangers have been poor in the league this season and cannot win any trophys, we were the first scottish side to make it through to the champions league second stage and i think if we take over Hearts in second place which looks likely and get the champions league spot i think Le Guen can take us further than the second round, maybe not next season but in seasons to come rangers in my view will be a big force in europe.
