Jermain who?

Has everyone forgotten about Defoe?
With England 2-1 down to Germany at Wembley, McLaren chose to substitute both strikers, Smith and Owen. Without Rooney, Bent and Johnson through injuries, who did he turn to? Not Jermain Defoe, but Crouch, who is suspended for the next game, and a midfielder Dyer.
I’m not a big Defoe fan, and I know he has not played much for Spurs, but what does he have to do?
Frankly, not to be picked before Owen (who is not fit) and Smith (who is nowadays more a midfielder) must have been depressing. But when your team is losing and the manager would sooner put on a midfielder (who has never scores) rather than you, you must begin to wonder where you future lies.
