Big four meet to kick-start season
The Editor — Fri, September 15th 2006
Last season’s top 4 teams meet each other this Sunday, as Chelsea face Liverpool and Man Utd play Arsenal.
After a summer of World Cup football, and the football season’s first month being broken up by international games, the English Premiership has so far failed to fire. Only Manchester Utd have been able to brush off the dust and come out with the intensity expected to become champions.
Liverpool and Arsenal in particular have seemed content to start the season at a canter, as if 3 points at the start of the season dont’t count as much as 3 points at the end.
Defeats for Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal could leave them already facing a sizeable gap to close on the top of the table, which unfortunately points to edgy, defensive games.
